Thread Caravan views sustainability as a framework of holistic efforts addressing both environmental and social impacts.
travel style
We focus on creating longterm partnerships, working in collaboration with local communities to determine best practices for hosting educational experiences.
Each of our workshops focus on one specific art form and place, allowing for a more profound connection, rather than the usual surface-level travel experience.
craft emphasis
Our workshops promote a slower, bucolic way of life: making things by hand with local, natural materials. We encourage people to return home with inspiration to explore their own backyards and creativity, to question material origin, and consider what is really necessary. We believe that slow processes and handmade crafts are inherently valuable, and we embrace them as a tool for resisting commodification.
carbon emissions offset
As part of our carbon offset initiative, Thread Caravan has partnered with regenerative agriculture companies Pablo Que Habla, One Tree Planted and Trees for the Future, to plant trees around the world. As of February 2024, we’ve sponsored the planting of more than 10,000 trees across Guatemala, Oaxaca, and West Africa.
