FAQs

  • The program is very open depending on the interests and desires of the resident. Based on residents' applications, we create a proposed itinerary for their stay. We commit to planning at least one weekly workshop / demonstration or textile experience with a community member.

This encounter can range greatly -- so far it has included things like a backstrap weaving course at the house, a visit to a silk production studio, or more experimental practices.

Although one event per week is the average scheduling, we can coordinate more or less based on the desires of the resident.

Because Texere is also a co-working textile center, there are many learning experiences that arise organically via people coming to work at the studio. We create a monthly schedule for the coworking space, which includes events that residents are also welcome to participate in - such as movie screenings, group embroidery sessions and more.

  • The TEXERE team will arrange at least one experience per week. Beyond that, we can arrange more experiences upon request, or put you in touch with teachers and artisans to coordinate directly. At the beginning of the program, we send a suggestion list.

  • Backstrap weaving, table loom weaving, floor loom weaving, frame weaving, spinning, embroidery, natural dyes, hammock making, visits to textile studios, artisan communities and more.

  • This can range greatly from approximately $100 USD - $500 USD per week.

  • Yes, materials are available both for free in the coworking space and for sale in the tienda.

  • There are no expectations other than to facilitate connection amongst textile artists and enthusiasts. Residents are given the option to show their work in an open house event at the end of the program.

We ask that when applicable, residents offer a workshop, cooking, yoga class, or other skill share with the local community. This is something that our team helps facilitate.

  • The TEXERE house has 2 bedrooms, where we host up to 3 residents at a time. Residents are housed in private rooms, unless applying in a pair with indication to share a room.

  • A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your space. This deposit is payment for one week participation in the program. The remaining payment (1-3 weeks) is due 2 months prior to the start date of your program.

If you need to cancel your space in the program, the non-refundable deposit is withheld. Other remaining payments are reimbursed if cancellation is more than 2 months before the program start date.
